Horrible bosses and beyond
So I had a good share of terrible bosses in past… and I only TWO of them were good bosses (and I have had a LOT of bosses, so I know what I am talking about). One of them was a woman, she was witty and smart, knew what she wanted and taught me a lot of things. Most of the times, I didn’t even realized she was teaching me something. The other boss, well, he was pretty bright and smart, always treated me with respect .. but was never around… at least I respected him, and I still do.
I believe now that we attract such horrible people, not only horrible bosses, but horrible co-workers, horrible direct reports, horrible teachers, etc. etc. etc. why, I wonder sometimes? Because there is always a lesson to learn from each and every person. It has to be either that we do have that defect and we do not realize it, or that we would have to learn what not to do in order to avoid those type of behaviors when we are bosses ourselves.
I am thankful for all the nasty bosses I had in the past! They had made me a nicer person, stronger human being and compassionate… a firmer version of me. I think that most horrible bosses, and nasty people in general are insecure! Only good can come out of every situation, all is well, and I am taken care of by our “Big Boss”.
I had bosses that called me fat, ugly, old, spinster, too tiny, too nice, too friendly, too detailed-oriented, too organized, too nice, that I had bad taste for clothes, that I wore no make up, that I didn’t brush my hair (well I can grant that hahaha), that… well, the list is endless…
The good part is that none of those horrible bosses ever told me that I didn’t know how to do my job or that I was not prepared for the position… I realize now that they were threaten by me, because I earned the position, while some of them were there because they were friends with someone in a higher position, did something “too special” for their bosses, or whatever…
Anyhow, I love my new boss, I think he is great and is a fair and an intelligent man that knows what he wants and will not belittle you in order to get it, if something, he values his team! Thanks boss.

Critical people often attract a lot of criticism because it is their pattern to criticize. They often need to be perfect at all times. Do you know anyone on this planet who is perfect?
