Women and Rule Breaking: Why It’s Essential for Business Success
Women and Rule Breaking: Why It’s Essential for Business Success
Women are rule followers and perfectionists. They want to be right. They dot I’s and cross T’s. But that is not always the way to win the war—particularly a war that’s being fought in a world of masculine values.
This reminded a phrase my boss told me a couple of weeks ago “be bolder and create your own rules”
Thinking Away the Pain
Despite the increasing prevalence of chronic pain?nearly one in three Americans suffers from it?medical progress has been slow and halting. This is an epidemic we don’t know how to treat. For the most part, doctors still rely on over-the-counter medications and opioid drugs, such as OxyContin and Vicodin. While opioids can provide effective relief, they’re also prone to abuse, which is why overdoses from prescription painkillers are now a leading cause of accidental death.
If Mentors Are So Important, Where Are They?
If Mentors Are So Important, Where Are They?
How many women are mentored?
- Nearly one in five, or 19%, of women in the survey say they have never had a mentor. About half of those say they simply never met anyone appropriate.
- It’s not primarily unwillingness to help that dissuades women from being mentors. Instead, 67% of these women say they simply have never been asked.
Actually, once I wanted to have a mentor in a company I worked for. He was such an intelligent Senior Executive. I guess he liked me because he would give me now and then some piece of advise. The problem was that in such a sexiest corporate world, a woman looking for a mentor is sometimes interpreted as looking for something else, so I just didn’t do much and I am pretty much mentor-less, and I think I need someone that would guide me to conquer the world!
